Real Madrid Breaks Out Last Season’s Away Kits Against Valencia – SportsLogos.Net News

Spanish La Liga powerhouses Real Madrid were forced to dig deep into their closet for their match with Valencia CF over the weekend.

Real travelled to the Camp de Mestalla to face Valencia in a La Liga match on Saturday, March 2. When they took the pitch, though, they were wearing their light purple away kits from the 2022-23 season.

That’s because, as the home team, Valencia got first choice of the uniform they wanted to wear, and they those their traditional home combination of a white jersey, black shorts and black socks.

Real Madrid, however, seemingly only have one option for shorts with each of their away and third kits for 2023-24, and they match the color of the shirt. The away kit is navy blue, and the third kit is black, meaning both shorts would indistinguishable from their opponents’.

Real technically could have worn their white home shorts with either the away or third jersey to avoid the clash, but they instead opted for the light purple ensemble.

The purple kit was also notable because it has Adidas’s old logo on the chest, with the company name spelled out under the three stripes mark.

The jerseys may live on somewhat in infamy, as the referee nullified a potential Real Madrid winning goal by signaling the end of the match while the attack was still unfolding. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
